When you visit Soyons and Crussol you will be going back Up to 150000 years.

Start off with looking round the castle ruins at Crussol, overlooking the valley. The castle was built in the I0th century and partially destroyed in the I6th Century during the wars of religion.
From Crussol there is a wonderful view over Valence and the surrounding countryside as far as theVercors foothills

You can set off from here for many walks in an area of more than 40 hectares (near-ly 100 acres) where both wildlife and plants are protected in this classified site.

Then go up to the "Leaning Tower" , from which there is a sweeping view over part of the Rhone valley, and thence to the archeology museum to comple-te your trip.
You can go along the ridgeway to Soyons, stopping first at the prehistoric caves, one of the key sites in Europe for studying Neanderthal man.
